Our new home?!?!?

We have a contract on this house with closing set for Oct. 31. The inspection is tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 29. After that, we'll really know if it is THE house. We are in a 10 day option period in which we can back out for any reason. Our Nacogdoches home is VERY difficult to leave, but we have all resigned ourselves to the fact that we need to be in this area for the foreseeable future. The possibilities of having our children and their children, our parents, as well as our extended family and friends, sharing in this home are very exciting...esp. after living in a small one bedroom apt. for nearly 2 years! God is so good and we are thankful to Him for even the possibility of a new home for our family.
They say kitchens and bathrooms sell homes and it is certainly true here. The kitchen is very nice, overlooks the den and a nice size eating area. It has a long bar/counter which we've had in nearly all our homes and which has always ended up being the gathering place for family and friends! A lot of good conversations, breakfasts, quick snacks, and even waking up in the morning has taken place there...we expect it will be the same here too.
There is a 3 way bedroom split. The master is downstairs with a great bathroom and, in Irby's words, "an insanely large closet," a 2nd bedroom downstairs in its own hallway with a full guest bath, and upstairs there are two more bedrooms and a bath. (By the way, is there such a thing as a closet being too large? I don't think so!) It also has a formal dining room and a living room which we would use as a piano room with a small sitting area. Oh...it has a beautiful view of the Walnut Creek Golf Course...which Irby really loves...not because he's a golfer...but because very little of what is in the backyard has to be mowed by HIM!!!
Are there things to do? You bet! First off, a fence in the back so we can finally just let our dogs outside and not have to walk them every time they go outside; for the neighborhood association, all fencing has to be wrought iron. The cabinets in the den have glass pieces missing from the doors and are pretty dated...we'd rework those doors with regular glass and lit, glass shelves, as well as paint them white like the rest of the room trim. Those are the most immediate things.
You know, always a project!!!
So the month of Oct. promises to be very busy. This changes almost daily...but right now the plan is to meet the packers/movers in Nac. the last week of Oct., then deliver to the new house around Nov. 1. We're praying for our time to be multiplied. And just another slight change begins this month...Irby starts a new job Oct. 15!!! We always try to cram a little more into an already busy schedule! More on the new job later~

Can't wait to lay on "my" couch and look out onto the golf course.
Eventhough ya'll have been here, it now seems like you are "really" going to be here!
Love you!
