Seattle - 33rd Wedding Anniversary

I joined Irby in Seattle 3 days this week end for our 33rd wedding anniversary, August 16th. (I just KNOW that we're too young to have been married this long!) It was a lovely week end, and we had a great time! The only thing that didn't work out perfectly was that we had hoped to get away from the hot Dallas summer; however, Seattle was having a very rare heat wave!!! We shopped at Pike's Market; ate at some of the famous fish places at the Market...Ivars, Elliott's, Jack's; went on a cruise of Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, and Lake Union; road the monorail - we'd both been up in the Space Needle before; and went to a very funny pre-Broadway production of "Shrek." The cruise on the waterfront of Seattle, through the government locks, and through the Washington Ship Canal to Lake Union was relaxing with gorgeous views. Going through the locks from salt water to fresh was interesting as well as being under the several bridges that opened for us! We saw the houseboat from "Sleepless in Seattle," (pictured below - the house with the white lights), and a beautiful dusk view of the city. The flowers were in full bloom and very lovely. The market sells the largest floral bouquets for $5-$10, and we wished there was some way to bring them back on the plane! All the streetlight posts and along the market roofs, there are blooming flowers. It was a very enjoyable 3 days. We left the 17th, Irby flying cross-country to Baltimore, while I returned to Dallas to begin school the 18th. :-(
