Winter 2006

It's been a few months since our last entry and a few changes took place in our lives over the Christmas holidays. In addition to our home in Nacogdoches, we now have an apartment in Arlington (DFW area) for Cheryl to teach in the Mansfield ISD system. We've needed to do this for awhile, but the timing just didn't seem right until she was offered a job in Nov. to begin in January. We also never imagined moving mid-school year. This is a growth position at a brand new school in the Mansfield ISD, and Cheryl now teaches 4th grade reading and social studies to all 4th graders at Spencer. She likes the age group, the school, and her team very much, and only occasionally misses the curriculum of 8th grade. Spencer is in the middle of a lovely subdivison on Joe Pool Lake. The move also enables Irby to be home several more days a month. We go back to our Nac. home every other week end because of friends and our involvement at FBC Nac. We are not ready to give up our ties there.

Cheryl did get caught in the middle of a late NISD Christmas dismissal and an early MISD return! The time off amounted to 6 school days and in that short period of time, we had Christmas with our kids in Nac right after school was out, went to Little Rock the day after Christmas for Cheryl's dad's surgery, returned to Nac. and had 2 days to get ready to move, the very next day we had the Cox's 65th wedding anniversary party at the Reatta in Ft. Worth, and one day later, school started again!
