Kilkenny Castle

One of the quaint streets of Kilkenny
Gowran Church - an unexpected treasure
found in route to Dr. P's home. Notice the
"new" church is attached to the ruins of
the old church.

Dr. Pippenger's boys waving "hi" to us from
their front door. They did the same thing
when we left.
Daddy enjoyed watching 4 of the 6 Pippenger
children playing in the kitchen. All of them were
very sweet and a little shy.
We hardly recognized Dr. Pippenger without his bowtie and white coat, but he's the same congenial person in his Ireland home that he is in his office at St. Bernard's.
Kilkenny is a lovely inland city north of Waterford. We went into the city again this morning to see the castle and shop a bit. In the afternoon, we began our trek over country roads and through forests to Dr. Pippenger's home for tea. This is Daddy's doctor who alternately spends two weeks in Ireland and two weeks in the states. We had a very nice visit with him and then headed off to Limerick where we had dinner at Bunratty Castle.
