NYC with Elliotts - Spring Break 2008

It was pretty cool in NYC in March, but it
didn't dampen our spirits one bit! We had
looked forward to going to NYC with Phyllis
and Danny for so long. Irby and Danny had
been when Phyllis and I went on a teacher
cruise a few years ago, so Danny had a lot of
sites he wanted Phyllis to see. Two things
she wanted to do that Irby and I had never
done...walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and go
to "Good Morning America" whose studios
can be seen from Times Square.

Rockefeller Center and the famous ice skating
rink and bronze statue of Prometheus.

NY Stock Exchange - corner of New & Wall Sts.

The lovely Trinity Church with the numerous
graves of famous Americans surrounding it.
Also the site for workers to gather while
looking for survivors of the World Trade
Center tragedy of 9/11.

Excavating is still in progress on the World
Trade Center.

Just before we came close to kissing the bull,
I said, "Phyllis, you aren't putting your lips on
this thing, are you?" She replied, "No, Jane, I'm
NOT!" (In sweet tribute to our friend, Jane, who
tries to keep us well and as germ-free as possible!)

Notice the girls are kissing the bull, the guys are
trying to pull its horns off...typical male/female
gender difference!!

This fire station is directly across from the site
of the World Trade Center and were the 1st
responders. They lost seven firemen on 9/11.

Chris Cuomo (partially hidden) and Robin
Roberts - "Good Morning America" hosts
We knew Robin was a college basketball
player, but still her height is surprising. She
was very gracious and visited a long time with
the extra guests inside the studios. Diane
Sawyer was on assignment.

On top of the Empire State Building...it was
very chilly...where are your hats, the rest of
you?!?!

St. Patrick's Day Parade - March 17, 2008

Grand Central Terminal
The best way to see the front of the Statue of
Liberty is from the free Staten Island Ferry.
She is stunning; honestly, it gives you chills.
Phyllis and Danny crossing Central Park West
about to enter Central Park. Phyllis is in green
coat. Behind them is the Dakota Building where
John Lennon lived.
On Times Square
Looking north at Manhattan from the Staten
Island Ferry.
Talk about the "Sopranos!" We were
a little afraid that Danny looked like
a NYC gangster!!
